Residential Scheme Pickhill

PARKdesigned are currently working on a 15 unit scheme in Pickhill, North Yorkshire. The scheme will consist of 2, 3, and 4 bedroom homes with a mix of bungalows and 2 storey dwellings.

We are currently in the process of discharging the planning conditions and are actively working on the building regulations aspect of the project so that we can continue with the development in a swift manner.

The key principles of the site are as follows:

  1. Houses facing a public open space

  2. An accessible open green space

  3. A footpath that connects to the village

  4. Courtyard setting to the rear of the site

  5. An existing tree belt at the rear of the site

The site can be broken down into three areas, each with distinct features that add character. Area A is a farm courtyard setting and is found at the rear of the site, Area B has houses that front the village green and is found towards the centre of the site, and Area C is a linear development that is found closest to the main road.

Careful considerations have been made to ensure that this new site complements the buildings found in the surrounding area. In terms of local vernacular, the buildings in the local area typically feature:

  1. Predominantly red, clay brick facades with some stone and render

  2. Pantile roofs with some grey slate

  3. Brick chimney stacks

  4. Timber doors and windows

  5. Roofs with pitches that are generally lower than 40 degrees

  6. Brick or stone window arches

We can also confirm that the development will be composed of 2no. 2 bedroom bungalows, 2no. 3 bedroom bungalows, 3no. 2 bedroom houses, 5no. 3 bedroom houses, and 3no. 4 bedroom houses. Having this mix of dwellings was imperative if we are to remain sensitive to the surrounding area and ensure that the site does not detract from the village in which this site is located.
