PARKDESIGNED ARCHITECTS IS 10 YEARS OLD
It’s been 10 years since we launched PARKdesigned Architects. 10 years. 120 months. 520 weeks. 3653 days. We could go on. 10 years is a long time and we've come such a long way since our first day.
It hasn't been easy, we never thought it would be, but the journey has taught us so much. Launched by James and Edward Park in 2011, we are a design-led practise based in Leeds. We have an ethos that we’ve adhered to since day one: to create exciting spaces that please, that are on budget and are completed on time.
We could talk about our achievements and what we've won over the years but first we want to thank you for getting us to where we are today. It’s been a hell of a lot of hard work on our part but without your trust and continued commitment we never would have made it this far. Thank you.
Now time for a little self-indulgence and reflection. Over the last 10 years we've been involved in over 250 projects with each project coming with its own set of challenges, quirks, and obstacles that needed to be addressed. It hasn't always been plain sailing and of course some brilliant designs never come to fruition but if you follow us on social media you will have seen some of the brilliant projects that did.
Below we've picked out a varied selection of projects from over the last 10 years, with each one highlighting something a little different.
The View - completed 2016.
We were commissioned by Frontiera Real Estate to serve as Project Architects for the conversion of the 50,000 ft2 old Chubb Fire and Security HQ building. Upon receiving permitted development approval, we worked tirelessly to convert the site into 80 one or two-bedroom high-quality apartments. The internal work was carried out in accordance with ‘office to residential permitted development rights’ while the external facade required full planning approval.
Box Funeral Directors - completed 2013.
PARKdesigned were appointed by Eric F. Box to create a contemporary extension to their existing bereavement home in Dewsbury. The brief for the project was to “create additional function space and a new entrance that is modern but also sensitive to the existing use”. The extension to the funeral home was a single storey building providing a new feature entrance, function room and store, as well as a memorial garden.
Awesome Merchandise - completed 2016.
This project, Awesome Merchandise, saw us create a product that both increased and improved the working environment in the Awesome Merchandise office. We proposed the implementation of the mezzanine area that would be accessed via the photographed 'break out steps'. This increased the office space by 4,100 square feet while also creating an eye-catching USP. This feature has since been used for both presentations and informal team meetings.
Shaftesbury Avenue - completed 2020.
A home renovation in the northern part of Leeds, this property was desperately needing some TLC after having been untouched for years so we gave it a complete overhaul. We worked tirelessly to give the home a new lease of life by creating a modern kitchen and dining area that opens up to the patio area. Upstairs we managed to also create space to provide a new family bathroom as well as a double bedroom. We also tanked the existing basement to create a utility space, plant room, and home office.
