MIXED USE COMMERCIAL DEVELOPMENT BRIGHOUSE

PARKdesigned were recently appointed to design a high quality, mixed use development for a site in Brighouse. The proposed redevelopment aims to create a new street frontage with retail and commercial spaces.

Currently, the site is occupied by a builders yard, retail and commercial units/ warehouses and ready mix plant. The site provides an opportunity to create a high quality development in this key location. The existing buildings and plant are to be demolished and replaced with a new builders merchant and yard, retail unit and supermarket.

Throughout the design process various massing options were considered. Different approaches were tested to determine the best way to address the street frontage and utilise the space for both retail and commercial use. The chosen option provides a strong built form on the crossroads of Sherwood and Wakefield road which completes the corner in this gateway location.
