Forty Lane

PARKdesigned have begun work on the construction of a four storey building in the suburb of Wembley, London. The site is c. 0.05 hectares in area and currently occupied by a single two-storey 4-bed, detached house. The land is bounded by residential properties to the North, East and West on Forty Lane, with residential properties on The Drive facing the site to the South. The existing residence on Forty Lane will be demolished as part of the project, with our new building taking its place. It will consist of 7no. flats with a car park, space for communal amenities and associated cycle and refuse storage.

A contemporary design has been adopted with stepped front and rear façades and deep inset balconies. The use of brick for the principal elevations, broken-up with varying bonds on the flank elevations, will root the building in the locality and create a high quality and well detailed addition to the street scene. The use of steel balustrades and contrasting brick bonds give the building a contemporary feel and, combined with the setting back of the façade, will create a facetted appearance where the interplay of light and shade and the reflection of the surroundings will provide depth to the front façade adding larger shadows onto the façade which in turn adds interest to the street scene.
