ENERGY CENTRE SHEFFIELD UNIVERSITY

PARKdesigned have started work on a new Energy Centre for Sheffield University. The proposed scheme will provide low cost heat and electricity to a number of key University buildings. The NEC (New Energy Centre) will house a generator and new CHP engine which is predicted to reduce 841 tonnes of carbon each year.

The project site lies in the city centre of Sheffield in close proximity to the iconic Grade II listed Arts Tower and is bordered by the University’s Chemistry North Wing to the south. Due to its function as a building and its location hard wearing materials such as corten steel and concrete have been chosen for the building. Construction will begin in April with a completion date for the end of the year.
