Energy Centre Leeds

PARKdesigned Architects have recently completed Saxton Garden’s energy centre in Leeds. The energy centre is part of the Leeds PIPES Network, delivered by Vital Energi in partnership with Leeds City Council, which will help improve the air quality in Leeds and reduce the City’s carbon emissions. It will also provide Leeds City Council tenants with more reliable and lower cost heating.

The Leeds PIPES Network harnesses steam from the Veolla Recycling and Energy Recovery Facility (RERF) and distributing it through a 16.5km district heating network to supply heat and hot water to 26 apartment blocks and businesses.

Leeds City Council have invested £35m into connecting 1,983 properties and numerous businesses to the efficient district heating network which will reduce carbon emissions by 22,000 tonnes per year and reduce fuel bills by between 10-25%.
