New Energy Centre
PARKdesigned have begun work on a new £8m renewable energy centre and underground pipe network. The proposed two storey energy centre will use a combination of water pumps within the energy centre which will draw geothermal energy from the abandoned flooded mines and air source heat pumps. This will provide low carbon heat to residents and council buildings via a 272 metre long network of pipes. The energy centre will be named after Professor Paul Younger who passed away in 2018 and was an internationally renowned hydro-geologist and environmental engineer. The centre is due to be completed in 2023.
