Energy Centre at the University of Sheffield

PARKdesigned have recently completed the 'Transformer' on behalf of Vital Energi for the University of Sheffield.

The Transformer at the University of Sheffield will generate and provide power to the Western Bank area of the University campus. The building houses a CHP engine, alongside boilers and associated mechanical equipment that will provide the University buildings with a consistent and continuous source of power.

The building materials were chosen to replicate the contrast displayed with the nearby arts tower. The use of delicate materials alongside heavier features brings a mindful visual connection between the two buildings.

The Transformer will provide the University with a consistent, efficient power supply whilst standing alongside and complimenting the iconic buildings within the City of Sheffield's built environment.

The proposed building is an innovative building, built with modern, high quality standards, that will contribute, both functionally and architecturally, to the growing city of Sheffield.
