Residential Development Wakefield

Construction has started on-site for the conversion of the dilapidated Manygates Maternity Hospital in Wakefield. The former hospital which has been left neglected and empty for over 10 years will be transformed into 14 modern apartments.

The inside of the building was in very bad disrepair when the contractors gained access. Since then the site has been made safe and demolition has begun with any existing features being retained where possible.

The Manygates hospital was formerly the Wakefield Corporation Maternity Hospital, situated in Blenheim Road, Wakefield. The hospital closed in 1992 and transferred to Pinderfields Hospital.

The works to the old hospital building are part of a large development that involves converting two other existing buildings and constructing a new 18 unit apartment building. These buildings will follow on in 2020.
