Leeds District Heating Network

PARKdesigned have recently been involved in the Leeds District Heating Network known as ‘Leeds PIPES network’. 1,983 council homes and numerous businesses around Leeds City Centre will benefit from the heat network providing them with low carbon heat and hot water from heat captured from the Leeds Recycling Energy Recovery Facility (RERF) in Cross Green. The heating network will improve the air quality in Leeds City Centre by reducing carbon emissions by 11,000 tonnes per year.

PARKdesigned have had involved all the way from the Cross Green energy centre to the pipe network at West Yorkshire Playhouse. The energy centre at Cross Green harnesses steam from the Veolla Recycling and distributes it through the 16.5km district heating network.

The picture is of Leeds PIPES crossing over Glencoe Bridge. Rather than just a plain finish PARKdesigned suggested a local artist - Nathan Evans to cover the pipes.
