PARKdesigned attended the Guerrilla Tactics conference at RIBA HQ on Tuesday. This year’s Guerrilla Tactics was themed ARCHI-PRENEURS – Smart Strategies for small practices. The conference provided small practices with business skills on how to make the most of their nimbleness. Keynote speakers on the first day were Farshid Moussavi from FMA, David Saxby from architecture OO and Rohan Silva from Second Home.
PARKdesigned were shortlisted for the Live Pitch event in the afternoon against 3 other architect practices. The live pitch invited small practices to sell themselves and their ideas of ‘rethinking the pub’ in front of a live audience. The 10 minute presentation was followed by 5 minute questioning from a judging panel. The pitch from PARKdesigned took the stance that the pub is dead and should be turned into ‘The Social House’ in which the needs of each surrounding community are met to create a thriving, sustainable hub. Unfortunately PARKdesigned came second after a judging vote with Carl Turner architects winning. We would like to congratulate Carl on his winning pitch.
The evening was finished by a speed dating event with mentors such as Lord Richard Rogers, Alison Brooks and BACA.
