 ABOUT THE PROJECT

Hebburn Energy Centre is a facility located in the town of Hebburn in the northeast of England. The center is a combined heat and power (CHP) plant that generates electricity and heat using natural gas as its primary fuel source. The facility was developed by South Tyneside Council in partnership with energy company ENGIE.

The Hebburn Energy Centre is designed to provide affordable, low-carbon energy to local homes and businesses in the area. The plant generates electricity using a gas turbine and then uses the heat produced as a by-product to supply hot water and heating to nearby buildings. This means that the plant is more efficient than traditional power plants that only generate electricity, as it makes use of waste heat that would otherwise be lost.

The Hebburn Energy Centre is part of a larger initiative by the South Tyneside Council to reduce carbon emissions and provide sustainable energy to the local community. The plant is expected to reduce carbon emissions by up to 1,500 tonnes per year, which is the equivalent of taking 500 cars off the road.
