Leeds Samaritans

PARKdesigned had the pleasure to work with the Samaritans in Leeds to investigate the potential of refurbishing their 3 storey existing premises following a significant donation. Working alongside the charity we help to design a comprehensive scheme which would fundamentally change the working environment for the Samaritan team. A new kitchen, relaxation zones and Operations rooms were provided. Also a bedroom was designed as part of the refurbishment as volunteers rotationally cover 24-hour shifts.

The build was undertaken by Willmott Dixon with Southernsbroadstock providing some of the fixtures and furnishings. Please click the buttons below to see their press release.

Walking through the doors of the Leeds Samaritans, one encounters a diverse array of volunteers—individuals from all walks of life, bound together by their shared commitment to helping others. They undergo rigorous training, honing their skills to offer genuine empathy and support, ensuring that every caller feels understood and valued. The Samaritans' impact extends beyond their helpline. They actively engage with the local community, organizing workshops, outreach programs, and awareness campaigns that promote mental health well-being and suicide prevention. Their presence is felt not just in the words spoken over the phone but also in the proactive steps taken to foster a healthier, more compassionate society. If you or someone you know needs support, please don't hesitate to reach out to the Samaritans of Leeds. You
